RIFLES

Our recommendation is that a 30-06 or 300 Win Mag and a .375 would cover all your needs sufficiently. This is merely a suggestion.

A .375 is the minimum caliber with which you will be permitted to hunt one of the Dangerous Seven as required by law.

According to South African law, it is prohibited to bring a semi-automatic firearm into the country. You are also limited to bringing in 200 rounds of ammunition per caliber into the country. Depending on how many animals you aim to shoot, we suggest about 60 rounds of ammunition per caliber should be sufficient. Also remember your cleaning equipment

Getting hunting firearms into South Africa is relatively easy, even for a first-time African hunter.

Hunters who bring their rifles must comply with their local home country regulations. These include licensing requirements and ownership proof.

BOWS, DRAW WEIGHTS & BROADHEADS

We offer bow hunting safaris for all of the plains game and dangerous seven species on our price list. Bow hunting in South Africa is extremely challenging and rewarding!

BOWS
The compound, re-curve and longbow are the three types of bows which are legally permitted in South Africa.

DRAW WEIGHTS
The minimum draw weight permissible by law when hunting dangerous game is 95lbs and a minimum draw weight of 50lbs is required for plains game hunting. We recommend to use a bow of 60lbs to 80lbs when hunting plains game.

BROADHEADS
The three main types of broadheads include; fixed blades, removable blades and mechanical / expandable blades

TAXIDERMY

We provide field prepping of trophies free of charge. However, we do not handle the taxidermy process of your trophies ourselves, we work with trusted partners that can assist you with the dipping, shipping and mounting of your trophies. SAFARI DOCUMENTATION

Your safari documentation includes your reservation document and the indemnity forms signed prior to your arrival.

INDEMNITY FORM
Prior to your arrival in South Africa, you will be required to sign an indemnity form - an important and necessary formality as a hunting safari is a potentially dangerous venture. But, rest assured that your professional hunter will go out of their way to ensure your safety and comfort at all times. Please contact us if you have questions about the indemnity form and any policies before you travel.

RESERVATION DOCUMENT (OUTFITTER DOCUMENT)
Your reservation document also acts as a contractual agreement between you and South African Hunting Safari (your hunting outfitter), requiring signatures from both parties. In addition to the contractual portion of the document, your reservation document contains the full details of your quotation (the daily rates of the hunting lodge), details about specific inclusions and exclusions as well as information on taxidermy and the importation of your hunting rifles. On the very last page, you will find our terms and conditions.

Also bring 2 copies of your Passport, air tickets and Visa (if applicable), one copy to be kept by your Hunting Outfitters.

Comfortable walking boots and gaiters.

Odorless sunscreen.

Binoculars and/or range finder.

Insect repellent is advised

110/220 Volt Adaptors specifically for Africa (220 volt), to charge anything from the USA, you’ll need the USA 3-pin adaptor(s) with 3 ROUND PINS to fit into South Africa wall socket.

Small flashlight which uses AA or AAA batteries which is easily obtainable locally.

Small backpack to carry items like Binoculars and/or Range Finders that you’ll need in the field.

PAYMENT METHODS

You can settle your account with South African Hunting Safari after your hunt using foreign currency, South African Rand, Wire Transfers, Visa or Mastercard.

We recommend that you also bring credit cards and some cash for minor expenses elsewhere.

MEDICAL

Any prescription medication must be accompanied by a letter from a general practitioner. Any over the counter medication needed can be obtained from local pharmacies. We advise all our clients to split prescription medication between your checked in luggage and carry on luggage (in case luggage is lost by airline).

It should be noted that we are in a malaria free zone.

We suggest that you consult your personal physician or contact a doctor in your country who is able to offer medical advice and who can prescribe any medication should they deem it necessary.

You can rest assured that South Africa has world-class medical facilities and doctors who are, in some cases, regarded to be among the leaders in their field globally. Please ensure that you arrange medical travel insurance prior to your travels in the unlikely event of a medical emergency.

BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS

Sunday's can be used for shopping and sightseeing as no hunting will be conducted on these days.

A 50% deposit of daily rates are required to confirm your booking and dates.

The balance is payable at the end of the safari in foreign currency, South African Rands, Mastercard or Visa

All prices are subject to change due to circumstances out of our control, client will be informed in advance.

All clients must sign our safari contract, indemnity form and agreement regarding dangerous game.

There will be no refunds on cancellations, nights, except when arranged differently with outfitter,

South African Hunting Safari accepts no responsibility for any accident, illness claim or loss of whatsoever nature, arising during and after the safari. Clients are advice to take out their own medical insurance and cancellation cover.
